Tremendous success for Ark Globe Academy A Level & BTEC students

The DfE and Ofqual have been clear that results for 2022/23 are much closer to the pre-pandemic outcomes. Ark Globe Academy has outperformed their 2019 KS5 outcomes with huge success in both A Level and BTEC courses.    

24% of A Level all entries score A* or A grades, with 65% of these entries marked as A*-B.   
For Level 3 equivalent qualifications, 100% of entries were Distinction or Distinction*.

Today Ark Globe Academy’s Year 13 students celebrate their tremendous A level and BTEC success. They have worked hard, acquired excellent grades, and secured university places, with some receiving bursaries to support their aspirations.

Head Boy, Radu Pupazan, who achieved A*A*A* in Economics, Government & Politics, and History, is planning to take up a place studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at a Russell Group university, the University of Sheffield. Radu arrived in the UK from Romania in 2018 and throughout his time at Ark Globe he displayed incredible leadership qualities, particularly in his proud capacity as Head Boy. He also demonstrated resilience and hard work, overcoming many obstacles, with English not being his first language. Not only did Radu win the whole school ‘balloon debate’ but he also received the Principal’s award this academic year in recognition for encompassing every element of our Culture Pyramid. He says, “I am proud of myself, but I am even prouder of the community for helping me.”

Sebri

Sebri Musa, who completed 4 A Levels and achieved A*AAA in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computer Science. Sebri started Ark Globe in Year 7 and has always taken on new challenges with firm independence and leadership. These qualities led him to receiving the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. Sebri will be going on to study Civil Engineering at The University of Manchester.

Mustaf

Marshall Wace bursary awardee Mustaf Jino is off to the University of Warwick to study Philosophy, Politics, and Economics after achieving a A*A*A in History, Government & Politics and Economics. Mustaf's long-term goal is to be an MP and step through the doors of No 10 Downing Street as Prime Minister. Mustaf is a keen musician and often performs at school shows and represents the school in the broader community in debating. Mustaf is a competent and conscientious student described as "one of our highest-attaining students in the sixth form and is one of our shining stars of the future."

Olivia

Olivia Hardinges, who started her journey at Ark Globe Academy Primary in 2009 when she joined Reception, is heading to study Law at The University of Nottingham after achieving an AAA in Government & Politics, History, and Sociology. Olivia says, “the subjects I enjoyed linked to Law as I was always better at humanities and interested in human rights”. Olivia’s mum, who worked in a law firm, is very proud of her for reaching her goals after Olivia told her in Year 10 that she wishes to study law in university. Olivia participated in a mentoring programme with Oxford University whilst attending Sixth Form which supported her to follow this pathway.

Santiago

After achieving D*D*D* in Business Professional Pathways (BTEC), Santiago Morales Gomez has secured a degree apprenticeship with Ernst & Young (EY) after visiting their offices in London Bridge in July. When Santiago joined Globe in Year 7 he wanted to be an astrophysicist but was inspired by his teacher, Mr Sinanaj, to do Business. Santiago says, “in my journey at Globe, I encompassed independence because no matter how much help you get you always need that determination and independence.” Mr Sinanaj said, "Santiago took a keen interest business and we would often discuss how power affects individuals in business and the impact it can have on society and economy. He is a natural leader."

Serena

Serena Hyman is the first in her family to go to university and will study Physiotherapy at The University of Essex after earning D* D* D* in Sports Professional Pathways (BTEC). Serena said “I have a mindset of doing my best and as you can see in the proof it has shown. I’m really happy!” Her Dean, Ms Constantine, says “Serena is extremely determined and focused and is the sort of person who came to Globe with a very clear vision of what she wanted to achieve and consistently worked on this over the last 2 years. One of her best qualities is that she always wanted to improve, even when she has done well, which is why she achieved these grades.” 

For all Year 13 students, this year marks an important milestone in their academic journey. This is their first experience with formal exams as they did not sit formal GCSEs in 2021 due to the pandemic.

“These are a fantastic set of Sixth Form results. This Year 13 have been significantly impacted by covid and the cost-of-living crisis. Despite these challenges our students have shown, with the support of our dedicated staff, tremendous resilience, and a growth mindset.  

Our Sixth Form Results Day is always an inspiring occasion for our whole community. Due to our student’s success, they are able to move on to high quality destinations which guarantees that we continue to deliver on our mission of ‘Preparing our students for university and to be leaders in their community’. I’d like to thank all of our students and adults at the Academy for their commitment to ensuring that every student reaches their full potential.”
